Graduation Weekend

I can honestly say I am so glad this weekend is finally over. Some people actually enjoy graduation weekend, but being a graduate and a graduates sibling is kinda close to being in hell; if you ask me.

Last week I put off baking two-hundred cupcakes, yes 200 cupcakes. Mini and normal size, which I also had to decorate. The mini ones were grass, and the normal size cupcakes were baseballs… Yeah it took over my life for two whole days, which is why I will never eat a cupcake again (that’s a lie). I had to call my cousin and her friend to come help this sister out. They took over on making the baseballs and the chocolate covered strawberries; which were a major hit.

The party seemed to never end, well it did at like midnight but it felt like it drug on forever. I was surprised at how well my brother handled it, he wasn’t too thrilled to have to stand and greet people for four hours (can you blame him?). I was glad that a lot of people he invited showed up, he also was very happy about that. Coaches, teachers, friends, family, lake friends, just everyone who showed up deserves a huge thank you. To those who couldn’t make it, thank you for the cards you sent.

There was one gift that really stood out to my brother and I, it was something of my dad’s that he received. One of my dads really good friends came to Brock’s graduation which was really nice of him. He gave Brock a card, but he also gave Brock gifts he received from being a pallbarer at my dads funeral. It was my dad’s money clip with his name engrave on it, and the hat my dad wore to work. It wasn’t a gift we expected, but we are thrilled he thought that Brock could now have a gift he was given. I am so thankful for the great people who are still in our lives even after we lost our father, it means so much to get gifts like that and to still hear stories. We still grieve everyday because, you never stop grieving and gifts like this help. We still learn about our father we had such a short time with, and we can’t be more thankful for that. So a huge thank you to Torgy for giving Brock such an amazing gift he will cherish for forever.

This weekend was great and I am so thankful for it all, now on to sub-section, section, and state baseball. Go Greyhounds!

The Greyhounds played their first game at BSU against Lake of the Woods, and got a win over them. That advanced them to play Black Duck, which they swept to become the sub-section champs. They play again on Thursday for sections. (I am bundled up because it was 40 degrees and wind).

I’m sorry I didn’t get my blog out last week on Thursday… My brother’s team won by one run, and an amazing catch that a freshmen made! They play this week ( June 5th) to see if they’re heading to state! Updates to come!

Here Goes Summer

Well I finally posted that video I have been saying I was going to. It is a longer one just because it has been a busy week since I got home, and so many little and big things happened so I had to make sure I didn’t leave a single thing out. Knowing me though, I definitely did. I forgot to tell you about the bridal shower I went to.

This bridal shower is for a girl who used to babysit me and she has asked my mom to help plan her wedding right? This bridal shower however, was planned by the church ladies and was at our church. I felt that it was a very awkward shower just because it was the most random people there. We played the game that most people play at their bridal showers, you know the one where you make a toilet paper wedding dress and she picks the one she likes best. I got nominated to be the model for it, sadly we didn’t win.

Thank you all for watching this long and boring week of mine. Enjoy yours!

Kansas City

I said I would post a video this week, however when I get back it is Mother’s day and I’m super busy. So here is hopefully my last typed out post for the summer.

This week I spent in Kansas City at a friends house (Jenni’s), and it was so much fun! One of our friends who went on our England trip (Charlotte)  last year is also here and it has been so nice to just hangout together again. Char doesn’t go to the same college as Jenni and I do so we barely get to see her, and hangout with her. The first day we got here she was blown away at the size of Jenni’s house and how the house looked inside, which I mean is okay but there were comments made about being rich that were even uncomfortable for me. I think she is getting used to it though which is nice.

We haven’t done anything too major because, we came here with nothing really planned so we have been winging it. I think the first day we had here we went to Union Station, which was pretty but, we couldn’t go in the part where the Amtrak was because, there was a private event going on. I was going to look for the bullet holes in the wall because, of the Al Capone story and if you don’t know the story please do yourself a favor and read about it. He was a very interesting guy. After we did Union station, we went up in Liberty Memorial and we walked the whole way, it was probably like 85 and full sun, so I was dying. It was really pretty minus the fact that I am someone who is afraid of heights. I also really loved that they employ veterans and they are the ones that welcome you and help you out. It makes my heart so happy.

We got to see Jenni’s school and meet two of her friends which was really fun! One is a senior in high school, and the other is our age. They were really nice people and really fun to be around. We actually hung out with one of them for the evening and she was really nice and had a really interesting personality. Very artsy.

We went to the Kansas City Zoo and it was so much fun! It wasn’t too hot thank God or I would die. There was a baby Orangutan, maybe like a couple months old and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen, its hair was crazy and he was trying to learn how to swing on branches; just cuteness overload. We also saw the tigers and they were so cute until the wind changed directions and blew the nasty poop smell at us. The penguins were so funny, their habitat had a snow machine and they all stood where the snow flew out and loved it. They were getting hit in the face by the snow but just took it, almost like when life throws things at you and you just take it.

We fly out on Sunday (Mother’s day), at noon to get home in about an hour. I am so excited to see my mom and my family when I get home, I miss them. This trip was a great week and way to start off my summer and I can’t wait to come back. A huge thank you to the Jaax family for having me.

Summer!!!

Hey all, I was going to make a video and may still do so but, it’s Saturday morning, the day of my brothers prom so I don’t have the greatest hair and I literally just woke up.

Now that I’m not dealing with those awful classes that I somehow passed AKA Chemistry, I have more time to blog about what is new and interesting and also using my other blog more. That blog is “Baking With Riss” and I show my successes and fails, along with asking for ideas on what to bake next. Being I haven’t been home enough to bake and my apartment had the smallest kitchen you will ever see, I couldn’t really bake. Please take a look at that blog and if you would like any of the recipes just message me or subscribe to my email.IMG_2448

Now for a small update. I had a freaking math final last week on Monday at 7:30am… YES I SAID AM! Like first of all who thinks that, that would be a good idea? Second of all who is ready to do math at 7:30am? Not me that’s for sure! I’m not sure how well I did on that test being I haven’t gotten the grade back. I am registered to take that class again this summer online to maybe get a better grade and keep my GPA at a decent number. Chemistry was so tough, I broke down in the library because I couldn’t do it, I was so overwhelmed, I was sitting at a D+ going into finals, and I was the kid who never got below a B+ so I was like freaking the freak out. I emailed my professor asking what I needed to get on this final to get me to at least a C-, and he said a 71/100, mind you I haven’t passed a test in that class. So here I am studying my ass off and trying not to break down for 3 solid days. I even took a shot of Vodka before I took the test because I was so worked up and nervous. I surprisingly got a 68/100 and had 18 points of extra credit to add and I somehow got my C-. So I thank the lord above.

While I was taking that test I had my parents and my close friend moving me out of my apartment to get me home as soon as possible. They paid the guys I live next to, to move my shit to the trailer, so it took them like 20 minutes. Then on Thursday I was off on my way home! It is now Saturday and I still haven’t unloaded half of my stuff, and the other half is still laying on the floor in the living room. Clearly I don’t want to do anything for a couple days.

Sunday, I head back down to school to road trip back to Kansas City with my friend who is from there, along with one of our other friends. 3 hours in the car to school, then 8 hours to Kansas City. It’s going to be a long two days!

Be ready for a video next week, I will finally have time…well I hope.

Have a great week,

XOXO

UPDATE! UPDATE!

Hey all, happy hell week. For those of you in college It’s hell week and you barely have time to function, so if you’re reading this, wow. I’m so thankful you wanted to procrastinate to read this because, I am the exact same way.

I just want to let you guys know, that I am going to start using youtube for my blog videos, just because it is way faster to upload them on their site. Please keep following because the summer vlogs are usually the best!

I wish you all the best with finals and your procrastination!

XOXO

The week of April 17th

Well good day my loves, it is currently Monday as I type this because this week for me will be hell.

Let’s start it off on a sad note, my really good friend here at college lost her dad this weekend so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through this hard time. I am making her a care package and delivering it sometime this week in hopes to help her get through this. I lost my dad at 11 and I can’t imagine losing him at our age. Prayers for Brooke.

Since it is Monday not too much has happened so far, I was up till basically 1am doing my chemistry and math homework…. Lots of fun right? I have a Math test on Friday, which I will probably fail because I don’t understand Logrithms to save my life and that’s basically the whole test. I have a hair appointment today at 1 to get myself more blonde because summer is just 2 1/2 long weeks away. I have my last day of Chem lab on Tuesday, thank god. But I also have a 3-5 page paper due tomorrow and I haven’t started… HAHA I SUCK. Wednesday I meet with a Greek life organizer to see if I can make my own Greek chapter for Science majors. That’s exciting! Then on Thursday I have a Mock Interview for my class and there is a paper for that due on Friday. So needless to say this week is going to be awful because I have homework on top of all of that.

I hope you all had an amazing Easter weekend, I know I did. Family is one of the things I cherish most and whenever I can spend time with them, I take full advantage. Speaking of family I have started doing a family tree on my Grandma’s side (My mom’s, mom) and I have roughly 90 people on there. I haven’t added the pictures I have of them yet because I want my tree to be correct before I do that. I am super interested in where I come from and how I got here, which made me try out the 23 and me chromosome test than you can buy. I did the genetics and ancestry one which was $200.00 and I just sent it in on Saturday, so I am super excited to get it back.

Have yourselves a great week,

XOXO

April 6th edition

It’s another vlog!! Be ready there is some funny things in this one! Not as exciting as some others but this one is decent. I hope you enjoy since I’ve been so busy lately I did a quick catch up!

XOXO

Back to reality…

Well since I’m back into my normal routine you can guess that it hasn’t been the best week. You would think that it being just the second week after spring break that it wouldn’t be crazy hectic and that I would be normal paced. NOPE NOPE NOPE.

Welp to start off this week, I missed class Monday due to a funeral on Sunday. Most people say they hate funerals and don’t ever want to go, me on the other hand find comfort in them. I know that sounds really weird but, I basically grew up at funerals when I was younger so I know how they work and how to act. Which is nice because, most times and most places I have no idea what I’m doing and or what I should be doing.

I love chem if you guys didn’t already know that! So this week is literally my hell. I have at least 4 chem assignments due a day, which take forever because we have to teach ourselves the sections. On Tuesday I spent 4 hours straight doing chem, no break what so ever. FOUR hours… you could say my brain was fried. So this week is just awesome to begin with.

Math on the other hand… well I’m still failing and we have a test next Wednesday and I HAVE to pass this test, like get at least a 80. BLESS MY SOUL!!! If anyone has any tips on how to study for a math test and like how to reduce panic attacks while taking math tests I’m all ears. I’ll do anything at this point.

I can’t really think of anything funny that happened this week because, I’ve been hunkered down in my house doing homework 25/8.

Wait here is a funny/not so funny story I never got to share with you since I had a makeup blog! So I think it was last semester? Or was it last year? I don’t remember but anyways I go to the Chiropractor a lot and I was on my way back and I was stopped at a red light, but you can go right on a red. I stopped because there was this utility truck in my way so I doubled checked both ways, well right as I start to go this guy on a bicycle come zooming out in front of me. I slam on my breaks mind you I was barely moving. He like tips over a little then into my car like I hit him…. he bikes off being mad and such and I just sat there like “of course this happened to me, of course!!!” So there is my fun little story for you!

I hope you all have had and amazing week and have one until next time! XOXO

SPRING BREAKKKK

I hope you all had a great week because for once I did too! It helped that I was on spring break in Mexico obviously! I’m sorry for those of you who saw last weeks video, it was not supposed to be published at all, let alone to Facebook. My apologies.

Spring break was quite a time it all started with getting there on the plane. We were on our connecting flight to Chicago and Jenni nudges me saying, “I can’t find my passport.” Obviously there was pure terror for a couple of minutes till we found it on the floor. That would’ve been so so bad. On the flight to Mexico from Chicago this girl sat next to us and she looked like the actor off of “50 Shades of Grey” but she was not having Jenni and my goofing off. Honestly don’t blame her but it got to be such a long flight.

Arriving in Mexico was a shit show because, we couldn’t find the sign with our last names on it to be picked up. Once we finally found it Sam’s name wasn’t on the list and by this time we were all just so done and sweating like pigs because it’s 75 and humid while we were dressed for the tundra. In our car was a family from Kentucky and the guy we were talking to knew where Bemidji was and we were all blown away by that. His one comment that we all loved was ” Yeah the Beavers? My buddy got me a sweatshirt of theirs and it’s so comfy I wear it out.” LOL yes the Beavers.

None of us really burnt until the second to last day, aka Jenni. Poor Jenni was so burnt she had to take an ice bath in the room. The rest of us were pretty good about not burning, we would get pink but not burn. Also most days we were drunk by noon because it was all-inclusive so why not right? I swear I gained so much weight in that short week we were there. Room service was our life when it was like midnight and it was always good.

I am so glad I got to spend a week in Mexico with my friends and had an amazing time. I hope you all enjoy your spring breaks this week because I am jealous even though I just had mine. I didn’t post a video this week because I can’t really share many stories from Mexico and my hair is pink for some reason, so that’s really awesome. IMG_3658
