Kansas City

I said I would post a video this week, however when I get back it is Mother’s day and I’m super busy. So here is hopefully my last typed out post for the summer.

This week I spent in Kansas City at a friends house (Jenni’s), and it was so much fun! One of our friends who went on our England trip (Charlotte) ┬álast year is also here and it has been so nice to just hangout together again. Char doesn’t go to the same college as Jenni and I do so we barely get to see her, and hangout with her. The first day we got here she was blown away at the size of Jenni’s house and how the house looked inside, which I mean is okay but there were comments made about being rich that were even uncomfortable for me. I think she is getting used to it though which is nice.

We haven’t done anything too major because, we came here with nothing really planned so we have been winging it. I think the first day we had here we went to Union Station, which was pretty but, we couldn’t go in the part where the Amtrak was because, there was a private event going on. I was going to look for the bullet holes in the wall because, of the Al Capone story and if you don’t know the story please do yourself a favor and read about it. He was a very interesting guy. After we did Union station, we went up in Liberty Memorial and we walked the whole way, it was probably like 85 and full sun, so I was dying. It was really pretty minus the fact that I am someone who is afraid of heights. I also really loved that they employ veterans and they are the ones that welcome you and help you out. It makes my heart so happy.

We got to see Jenni’s school and meet two of her friends which was really fun! One is a senior in high school, and the other is our age. They were really nice people and really fun to be around. We actually hung out with one of them for the evening and she was really nice and had a really interesting personality. Very artsy.

We went to the Kansas City Zoo and it was so much fun! It wasn’t too hot thank God or I would die. There was a baby Orangutan, maybe like a couple months old and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen, its hair was crazy and he was trying to learn how to swing on branches; just cuteness overload. We also saw the tigers and they were so cute until the wind changed directions and blew the nasty poop smell at us. The penguins were so funny, their habitat had a snow machine and they all stood where the snow flew out and loved it. They were getting hit in the face by the snow but just took it, almost like when life throws things at you and you just take it.

We fly out on Sunday (Mother’s day), at noon to get home in about an hour. I am so excited to see my mom and my family when I get home, I miss them. This trip was a great week and way to start off my summer and I can’t wait to come back. A huge thank you to the Jaax family for having me.

XOXO
